A solemn moment took place in the Grand Chamber of the Rennes Court of Appeal this Wednesday morning as I was sworn in as a court-appointed expert before Jean-Baptiste Parlos, First President.
This new role will allow me to approach maritime expertise from a complementary, highly formal perspective, with strict procedures and often significant stakes.
Since January 1, 2026, I have been listed as a court-appointed expert for the Rennes Court of Appeal:

My past experiences, particularly at Bureau Veritas and the ICNN (International Commission for Nature and Navigation), have allowed me to develop a precise understanding of the entire regulatory framework (certification, class rules, flag state, etc. – the list is long!). All of this will be invaluable, not to mention the crucial need for continuous professional development to stay abreast of all changes.
In this capacity, I will soon be joining the Rennes Chamber of Judicial Experts to undertake specific training and to benefit from a multidisciplinary network.

As a reminder, a judicial expert is a collaborator of the justice system, specializing in a particular field. They provide their opinion on facts or technical points in a legal case. They are appointed directly by the judge.
