The sale is finalized, and “Alicia” officially becomes “Time For Oceans II.”
All that remains is to bring the boat back to the port of Kernevel (Larmor-Plage). No small feat in the autumn at these high latitudes. The North Sea is not known for its calm waters. In addition to the harsh conditions, there is heavy maritime traffic, oil platforms, wind farms, fishing boats, and more. Vigilance will be essential.
To complete this 1100 nautical mile journey, Stéphane is assisted by Anthony and Pierre-Yves, two experienced sailors. With a crew of three, safety conditions will be optimal.
Before setting off, in addition to logistics (luggage lost by the airline, etc.), the day was dedicated to preparing the boat, particularly organizing the onboard gear: provisioning, and stowing the numerous sails. The voyage is meticulously planned: the weather forecast is favorable for a westward route around Denmark, thus avoiding the Kiel Canal.
The sea will be rough with a 4-meter swell expected, and a favorable but strong northwesterly wind, occasionally reaching 35 to 40 knots. Conditions will be calmer beyond the Strait of Dover.
