Registration on the List of Court-Appointed Experts with the Rennes Court of Appeal

The General Assembly of the Rennes Court of Appeal has accepted my registration on the list of court-appointed experts!

The registration will be effective from January 1, 2026, following my swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday, January 7.

From then on, I will be available to be called upon by the judge for matters under categories E-07-13 “Recreational and Racing Navigation” and E-07-15 “Pleasure Craft.”

It is, of course, an honor and a great satisfaction to be able to put my skills at the service of justice. It is also a commitment to my ongoing professional development in legal procedures, which require a specific approach.

My experience as an engineer at Bureau Veritas (www.marine-offshore.bureauveritas.com), a classification society, and within the ICNN (www.icnn.fr), a notified body, will be invaluable. I will be able to draw upon a thorough understanding of class rules, European directives, standards, and French regulations. Indeed, many legal proceedings are directly related to disagreements regarding the application of the aforementioned standards.

I will also be able to draw upon my experience as a navigator and Captain (200 UMS) to gain a comprehensive knowledge of navigation rules, particularly the COLREGs (International Convention on Collisions at Sea, 1972, which aims to prevent collisions between ships at sea).

See you on January 7th for the swearing-in ceremony!
