Since 2018, Time For Oceans has been designing and testing manufacturing techniques to limit the environmental impact of building racing and cruising boats.
In collaboration with Multiplast and Nova Carbon, we have just completed a second series of mechanical characterization tests on innovative material compositions.
In 2023, we tested the first recycled carbon fibers developed by Nova Carbon. The fabrics supplied by Nova Carbon for the 2025 tests have reached a new level, offering very promising weave quality and weights.
The Multiplast shipyard was in charge of the modifications made to the IMOCA Time For Oceans in 2020. We worked on reusing existing foils and also on minimizing tooling by creating a 25 m² coachroof with a mold of only 12 m², shared with Damien Seguin’s team. Multiplast, which also produced the first test pieces in 2023, has just finished manufacturing the 2025 test panels.
These panels use a new version of recycled carbon fibers, and we are also testing a hybrid version with wood, supplied by the company Malraux. This technique allows us to eliminate the need for molds by building the boat from flat panels.
The tests will be carried out in the last quarter of 2025, and we are eager to see the results!
